A taste of Beijing

TRB Hutong

TRB Hutong

Contemporary French cooking set in the courtyard of a historic temple in Dongcheng, which gives you the most striking dining room in Beijing: grey brick, old timber, and a modern, calmly professional dining room inside it. The kitchen builds precise, polished dishes around premium local produce, offered either as a signature menu with luxury ingredients or a seasonal one. It finishes with 'Le Grand Dessert', a multi-part dessert course the restaurant is known for.

What to order

Point at the Chinese. Staff will understand it even where the menu has no English at all.

  • Signature tasting menu (招牌套餐)
  • Seasonal tasting menu (季节套餐)
  • Le Grand Dessert (大甜点拼盘)

What it actually tastes like

This is European fine dining, not Chinese, so the surprises run the other way: rich butter and cream, properly rare meat, and raw or lightly cured seafood courses. Flag dietary restrictions when you book.

Allergens in this kitchen

dairygluten/wheateggfishshellfishtree nuts

This is the kitchen, not one dish. Woks, fryers, blanching water and utensils are shared in almost every Chinese restaurant, so for a serious allergy treat the whole premises as the unit rather than ordering around it.
