Why stay here
375 rooms, every one with a private balcony, set halfway up the Cangshan range looking down over Erhai Lake. Bai architectural motifs across the buildings, nine floors, indoor pool, spa, kids' club, mini golf. Standard categories run about 50 to 70 square metres; the Premium Lake-View Suite is 208. It was Hilton's first hotel in Dali.
It is the only property in Dali with both the Erhai view and a full-service resort behind it — pool, spa, children's facilities and enough rooms to guarantee availability. The balconies are on every room, which on a lake this size is the whole point.

Rooms worth asking for
A lake-view room or the Premium Lake-View Suite on floor 8. Mountain-facing rooms at this hotel waste the site entirely.

Before you decide
Hilton is a full-service brand, not a luxury one, and this is a large Chinese domestic resort with Super Wings-themed family rooms and mahjong rooms — the character is coach groups and school holidays, not an Aman. Guest scores are the weakest in this file at 8.6 on Travelocity. Room counts are quoted as both 365 and 375. On the mountainside you are a drive from everything including the lake shore.
Location. Cangshan mountainside above Erhai, within 20 minutes of Dali Ancient City, the Three Pagodas and Xiaguan.
