Why stay here
267 to 270 rooms spread through low-rise courtyard buildings in traditional Naxi style at 276 Xianghe Road, on the southern edge of Dayan Old Town. There is a back entrance that opens straight into the Old Town, and Sifangjie market square is about ten minutes on foot. A full pool and gym complex.
The practical choice: the only large hotel with real resort facilities that is also inside walking distance of the Old Town. It is a fraction of the Aman's rate and you still walk out of a back gate into the lanes. Guest scores run 9.4 to 9.6 across thousands of reviews, which is a far bigger sample than anything else in Lijiang.

Rooms worth asking for
A Junior Suite with club lounge access. The layout here is courtyard low-rise, so the aspect premium is small and the space premium is the one worth paying.

Before you decide
This is InterContinental, not a top-tier brand, and the service is good-chain rather than exceptional — it is on this list because of where it sits, not because it competes with Amandayan. Room counts are given as 267 by the hotel and 270 by Michelin. It is a big resort in a small town and feels like a coach-tour property at peak times. No spa, no notable restaurant, and the Chinese name in circulation is inconsistent, so confirm you are booking the Ancient Town resort rather than another IHG property in Lijiang.
