Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen
深圳文华东方酒店
Two Michelin Keys. There are only a handful of hotels in mainland China with two, and in Shenzhen — a city that did not exist forty years ago — that is the whole argument about what Shenzhen has become.

Mandarin Oriental Shenzhen and the UpperHills entrance
Why stay here
178 rooms on the top floors of the 79-storey Block A at UpperHills, 5001 Huanggang Road, in the Futian business district. The spa is on the 68th floor. Eight restaurants and bars. It holds Two Michelin Keys, Forbes Five-Star for both hotel and spa, and two Michelin-starred restaurants.
This is the best hotel in southern China by any measure that can be checked — Travel + Leisure's 2026 World's Best Awards put it sixth best city hotel in Asia and 34th in the world, and 178 rooms over that many floors means a ratio of staff and space that nothing else in the Pearl River Delta matches. MO Bar is ranked fifth in Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026.

Rooms worth asking for
Not established. With 178 rooms across the top of a 79-storey tower, almost everything has an aspect; I found no reliable account of which category is the value.
Note the exact room or suite name before opening the booking provider, along with any connecting-room, step-free access or celebration requests.
Dining & the evening ahead
Eight outlets. The Bay by Chef Fei (Cantonese) holds a Michelin star; the hotel counts two starred restaurants in total. MO Bar is No. 5 in Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026.
Request restaurant availability alongside your stay. Tasting menus, private dining and dietary arrangements should be confirmed separately.
Spa, pool & wellbeing
On the 68th floor, Forbes Five-Star rated. One of only two Forbes Five-Star hotel spas in Guangdong.
Ask which facilities are included with your room, whether treatments require advance reservations, and whether any seasonal closures affect your stay.

Before you decide
Michelin's own listing says no internet access and shows no verified guest stays, so there is very little independent guest assessment despite the awards — and the awards themselves come largely from the hotel's own accolade list. Sources disagree on whether it holds one Michelin Key or two. No pets. The Futian CBD is an office district: competent, charmless, and nothing to walk to. An extra bed is ¥700 per person per night.
Location. Futian District, UpperHills on Huanggang Road — the CBD, about 30-40 minutes by car from Bao'an airport and close to the Futian high-speed rail station for Hong Kong.
Prices are indicative, not live availability. Confirm the total including taxes, meals, transfers and cancellation terms on the provider’s checkout before committing.
