A taste of Guangzhou

Lei Garden (Yuexiu)

利苑酒家(越秀)

Guangzhou branch of the Hong Kong group, on the fourth floor of Yi An Plaza. It is a reliable, traditional-style Cantonese dining room, popular with both locals and visitors, and is a comfortable place for soups and roast pork if you want a quiet table rather than a rowdy teahouse.

¥200–260 per person (Ctrip reports an average of about ¥230)≈ US$30–34Michelin 1 star 2026Yuexiu, 4F Yi An Plaza, 33 Jianshe Sixth Road. A Chinese listing says it is near Taojin, Huanshi East and Guangzhou Zoo stations; the exact closest one is not confirmed.

Why come here

A place worth making time for

Michelin one star, listed among Guangzhou one-star restaurants in the 2026 guide.

The house favourites

What to order

Point at the Chinese. Staff will understand it even where the menu has no English at all.

  • Crispy roast pork belly (冰烧三层肉)
  • Jellyfish head (珊瑚海蜇头)
  • Almond tea (西施杏仁茶)
  • Slow-boiled soup of the day (老火靓汤)

What it actually tastes like

Jellyfish is crunchy and served cold with no sweetness. Cantonese soups are slow-simmered and deliberately mild.

Allergens in this kitchen

This is the kitchen, not one dish. Woks, fryers, blanching water and utensils are shared in almost every Chinese restaurant, so for a serious allergy treat the whole premises as the unit rather than ordering around it.
