The house favourites
What to order
Point at the Chinese. Staff will understand it even where the menu has no English at all.
- Braised soft-shelled turtle with pickled cabbage (雪菜甲鱼)
- Quick-poached pork kidney (爆炒腰花)
- Yellow croaker with rice cake (黄鱼年糕)
What it actually tastes like
Not a soft landing. The signature dishes are soft-shelled turtle, which is gelatinous and slippery, and pork kidney, which is offal and faintly mineral. Pickled mustard greens bring a sour, fermented edge, whole fish come with bones and heads attached, and the heat level is mild at most.
Allergens in this kitchen
This is the kitchen, not one dish. Woks, fryers, blanching water and utensils are shared in almost every Chinese restaurant, so for a serious allergy treat the whole premises as the unit rather than ordering around it.
