A taste of Kunming
Yunping Flavour Garden (Huguo Road)
云平风味园(护国路店)
A thirty-year-old local snack house whose signature is stinky-tofu rice noodles served in a small crock.
Why come here

What to order
Point at the Chinese. Staff will understand it even where the menu has no English at all.
- Stinky tofu rice noodles in a crock (臭豆腐米线)
- Yunnan grilled tofu (烧豆腐)
- Fried potato cakes (洋芋粑粑)
What it actually tastes like
Fermented tofu smells strongly of ammonia before you eat it and tastes much milder than it smells — but the smell is a genuine barrier for first-timers. Order it knowingly.
Allergens in this kitchen
This is the kitchen, not one dish. Woks, fryers, blanching water and utensils are shared in almost every Chinese restaurant, so for a serious allergy treat the whole premises as the unit rather than ordering around it.
