A taste of Lijiang

You Yi Guo Black Goat, Cured Rib and Wild Mushroom Hotpot

有一锅·黑山羊腊排骨野生菌火锅

A hotpot restaurant in a century-old building in the Heilongtan area, doing the two Lijiang hotpots side by side: cured pork rib and black goat. Black goat hotpot is the other local institution, concentrated on a street of competing shops around Jinkai Square, and this is a cleaner, more comfortable version of it.

What to order

Point at the Chinese. Staff will understand it even where the menu has no English at all.

  • Black goat hotpot (黑山羊火锅)
  • Cured pork rib hotpot (腊排骨火锅)
  • Wild mushroom pot in season (野生菌火锅)

What it actually tastes like

Black goat is strongly gamey and the pot includes skin and offal as standard — say so in advance if you want meat only. Wild mushrooms must be cooked right through; see the Kunming notes on this.

Allergens in this kitchen

soygluten/wheatsesame

This is the kitchen, not one dish. Woks, fryers, blanching water and utensils are shared in almost every Chinese restaurant, so for a serious allergy treat the whole premises as the unit rather than ordering around it.
