Why stay here
A 438-room hotel on Jiangtai Road in northeast Chaoyang, built as the flagship of the Chinese-owned NUO brand and designed around Ming dynasty material culture: lacquer, hardwood joinery, scholar's objects and contemporary Chinese art. It is a five-minute drive from the 798 art district.
The best-executed Chinese-owned luxury hotel in Beijing, and the only one at this level built around a Chinese design idea rather than an imported one. The art programme is real, and the rooms are large. If you are in Beijing for the contemporary art scene it is the obvious base.
Proximity to 798 and Caochangdi combined with an in-house collection and a design brief drawn from Ming connoisseurship. It is the one Beijing luxury hotel where the Chinese reference is researched rather than decorative.
Rooms worth asking for
A suite or a high-floor room on the quieter side. The hotel's own stated categories are not well documented in independent sources, so ask at booking rather than relying on published descriptions.
Note the exact room or suite name before opening the booking provider, along with any connecting-room, step-free access or celebration requests.
Dining & the evening ahead
Five to six restaurants and bars depending on the source, including a Chinese restaurant and a German-style beer hall. Competent hotel dining; nothing with a star or a Black Pearl diamond.
Request restaurant availability alongside your stay. Tasting menus, private dining and dietary arrangements should be confirmed separately.
Spa, pool & wellbeing
A large spa and pool. Standard for the category.
Ask which facilities are included with your room, whether treatments require advance reservations, and whether any seasonal closures affect your stay.

Not in the same tier as the rest of this list, and the Michelin Guide lists it with no Keys while Bulgari and Rosewood hold two. At 438 rooms it runs a heavy conference and corporate business, and the location on Jiangtai Road is a long way from anything a visitor came to Beijing for apart from 798. Published facts about it are inconsistent across sources, including the room count (438 or 439) and the number of restaurants. Note also that it is a different hotel from Beijing Hotel NUO on Chang'an Avenue, a 164-room historic property co-operated with Kempinski; the two are regularly confused, including by booking sites.
Location. Jiangtai Road, northeast Chaoyang. Close to 798 Art Zone and the airport expressway; 40-50 minutes to the Forbidden City.
