The character of the place

Why stay here

344 rooms and suites (302 rooms, 42 suites) occupying the top third of the 103-storey Guangzhou International Finance Centre in Zhujiang New Town. Guest rooms sit on floors 74 to 98. The hotel's atrium runs up through the tower from the 70th floor, open to the full height of the building above the lobby.

The atrium is the one piece of hotel architecture in southern China worth travelling to see — a 30-storey void inside a skyscraper, with the lifts and corridors looking into it. Yu Yue Heen holds a Michelin star for Cantonese, and Catch on the 100th floor is the highest hotel restaurant in the city.

The lift ride. You change lifts at the 70th floor into the hotel's own cars, and arrive into the atrium rather than a lobby. It is the arrival sequence other high-rise hotels attempt and miss.

Make the stay your own

Rooms worth asking for

A Premier or corner room on the river side, facing Canton Tower. Rooms on the inland side look at the CBD, which is a lesser view at the same height.

Note the exact room or suite name before opening the booking provider, along with any connecting-room, step-free access or celebration requests.

At the table

Dining & the evening ahead

Yu Yue Heen (Cantonese, Michelin-starred; the dim sum is the order), Catch on the 100th floor for contemporary French, plus lounge and bar.

Request restaurant availability alongside your stay. Tasting menus, private dining and dietary arrangements should be confirmed separately.

Time for yourself

Spa, pool & wellbeing

A spa exists on the upper floors but I found no professional assessment establishing it as a reason to book.

Ask which facilities are included with your room, whether treatments require advance reservations, and whether any seasonal closures affect your stay.

Before you decide

Sources disagree on whether the hotel occupies the top 30 floors or floors 74-98, and the room count is quoted as 344 everywhere because everyone is copying the same press kit — there is remarkably little independent review of this hotel for its stature. Being at the 90th floor in Guangzhou means low cloud sits in your window for days at a time in spring; the view you are paying for is not guaranteed. Getting out to street level is a two-lift, five-minute operation every time.

Location. Zhujiang New Town (Pearl River New City), Tianhe — the CBD, facing Canton Tower across the river and beside the Guangzhou Opera House.

Prices are indicative, not live availability. Confirm the total including taxes, meals, transfers and cancellation terms on the provider’s checkout before committing.
