Mandarin Oriental Guangzhou hotel exterior on Tianhe Road
Why stay here
263 rooms and suites plus 24 serviced apartments, interiors by Tony Chi, built into the Taikoo Hui complex on Tianhe Road with direct indoor access to the mall, offices and metro. Bathrooms are marble with a separate soaking tub and rainforest shower. The hotel has held Forbes Five-Star since 2016.
Jiang by Chef Fei is the reason. It is the strongest Cantonese kitchen inside any Guangzhou hotel and has held two Michelin stars in the Guangzhou guide — in the city that invented the cuisine, eating in your own hotel is not normally the right call, and here it is. The spa also holds Forbes Five-Star.

Rooms worth asking for
A high-floor suite on the city-skyline side. This is the one Guangzhou luxury hotel without a signature view, so the room premium buys space rather than aspect — pick on size.
Note the exact room or suite name before opening the booking provider, along with any connecting-room, step-free access or celebration requests.
Dining & the evening ahead
Jiang by Chef Fei (Cantonese, two Michelin stars in the Guangzhou guide), Ebony (fourth-floor grill, Michelin Plate), The Loft whisky and wine bar, and the Mandarin Cake Shop opening into the mall.
Request restaurant availability alongside your stay. Tasting menus, private dining and dietary arrangements should be confirmed separately.
Spa, pool & wellbeing
Forbes Five-Star rated. The only hotel spa in Guangzhou with that rating, and the reason to book here over the river-view towers.
Ask which facilities are included with your room, whether treatments require advance reservations, and whether any seasonal closures affect your stay.

Before you decide
It is a mid-rise hotel in a mall at a time when its three main rivals are all above the 70th floor, and it has no view to speak of. Published room counts vary between 233+30, 263 and 293 depending on the source, which tells you how much of the online material is recycled. Most of the Michelin and Forbes citations circulating date from the 2018-2021 guides, so current star counts need checking. Tianhe Road is the most congested address in the city.
Location. Tianhe District, Taikoo Hui on Tianhe Road — the city's main retail spine, one metro stop from Zhujiang New Town.
