Why stay here
A very large resort complex in Lhasa, described by travel guides as the highest-altitude InterContinental in the world. Rooms are unusually big: the Deluxe Oxygen-Enriched Double is 55 square metres and a one-bedroom suite is 115. Oxygen is diffused into rooms centrally from 8pm to 8am, with concentrators available on request.
The largest rooms in Lhasa at a materially lower rate than the St. Regis, and the only hotel where the oxygen is piped into the room on a timed overnight schedule rather than delivered by a machine you switch on. Around 2,500 verified reviews at 9.3 to 9.4, by far the biggest sample in Tibet.

I could not establish the room count from any source, and the widely repeated claim that it is the largest hotel in Tibet is unverified. This is an InterContinental, not a luxury brand, and it is built as a domestic-market resort — enormous, formal and busy with Chinese tour groups, which is a different experience from the St. Regis walled compound. All available assessment is from Chinese booking platforms. Not in the old city, so every outing is a drive.
Location. Lhasa, in a large landscaped resort complex rather than the old city; the Jokhang and Barkhor are a drive away.
