The St. Regis Lhasa Resort

The character of the place

Why stay here

162 rooms and villas at 22 Jiangsu Road, laid out as a low-rise walled resort rather than a tower, at about 3,680 metres. Five food and beverage outlets, an Iridium spa, and the Gold Energy Pool — an indoor warm-water pool lined in gold-plated tiles and interlocking crystals. Oxygen-enriched rooms are available.

The only international luxury resort in Tibet, and the only hotel in Lhasa with a brand standard of service behind it. The Jokhang and the Barkhor are a short drive. It is also the one Lhasa hotel where the first two days at altitude are designed for: oxygen-enriched rooms, a warm indoor pool, and a spa rather than a gym.

Make the stay your own

Rooms worth asking for

An oxygen-enriched room, whatever the category. At this altitude the air supply matters more than the aspect, and it changes how the first 48 hours go.

Note the exact room or suite name before opening the booking provider, along with any connecting-room, step-free access or celebration requests.

At the table

Dining & the evening ahead

Si Zi Kang (Tibetan), Yan Ting (regional Chinese), Social (buffet, plus Tibetan cooking classes), a tearoom and a wine bar.

Request restaurant availability alongside your stay. Tasting menus, private dining and dietary arrangements should be confirmed separately.

Time for yourself

Spa, pool & wellbeing

Iridium Spa — massage and pilates. Combined with the warm pool it is the most useful wellness offer in Tibet, and it is there for acclimatisation, not for treatments.

Ask which facilities are included with your room, whether treatments require advance reservations, and whether any seasonal closures affect your stay.

Before you decide

Michelin's own inspector calls the rooms minimalist and possibly too calm, with a hint of beigeness despite the Tibetan artwork — this is a St. Regis fit-out rather than a Tibetan building. Published room counts range from 162 to 199 depending on the source. Children incur extra charges and supplements are not in the quoted totals. Michelin shows too few verified reviews for a guest score. It holds no Michelin Key.

Location. Chengguan District on Jiangsu Road, a short drive from the Jokhang Temple and the Barkhor; Gonggar airport is about 60km.

Prices are indicative, not live availability. Confirm the total including taxes, meals, transfers and cancellation terms on the provider’s checkout before committing.
