The character of the place

Why stay here

A small Tibetan-owned retreat at 1 Zongzan Road, Chengguan District, built on the edge of an old park about 5km from the Potala Palace. Remote Lands counts 18 superior suites facing the garden and 14 facing the Potala, plus 10 garden-facing and 8 Potala-facing deluxe suites — around 50 suites, each about 80 square metres. Oxygen concentrators in the rooms.

It is the Tibetan end of the Songtsam circuit and the only luxury hotel in Lhasa owned and run by Tibetans — the group was founded in 2000 by Baima Duoji, a Tibetan documentary filmmaker, and now runs sixteen or more lodges across Yunnan, Sichuan and Tibet. Staying here and at Songtsam Lijiang Linka lets you do the whole Yunnan-Tibet route under one roof.

Note the exact room or suite name before opening the booking provider, along with any connecting-room, step-free access or celebration requests.

Before you decide

The oxygen-concentrator claim comes from a sponsored article rather than an independent source, and some of the oxygen detail circulating about this hotel actually belongs to Songtsam's Shangri-La property — confirm it in writing when you book, because at 3,650 metres it matters. The suite count is assembled from a tour operator's breakdown, not a published total. No spa, one restaurant, and almost no independent English-language review: the 9.4 score comes from about 330 Chinese booking-platform reviews.

Location. Chengguan District, Zongzan Road, on the edge of an old park about 5km from the Potala; Gonggar airport about 61km.

Prices are indicative, not live availability. Confirm the total including taxes, meals, transfers and cancellation terms on the provider’s checkout before committing.
