The character of the place

Why stay here

A 278-room low-rise resort occupying a secluded 1.2 km bay close to central Sanya, set through 12 hectares of tropical hillside and gardens designed by Bill Bensley. The accommodation includes 13 suites and 15 two-bedroom villas with heated pools, while the shoreline has a protected coral reef rather than an uninterrupted swimming beach.

Pick it for privacy without exile. It is much closer to the city than Haitang Bay, has a bay that is used almost entirely by hotel guests, and combines mature planting with a 3,200-square-metre spa village. Among Sanya resorts it is the strongest choice for couples who want quiet and do not need a long sandy swimming beach.

Make the stay your own

Rooms worth asking for

An Ocean View Pavilion on the upper hillside for the broadest water view, or a two-bedroom pool villa for privacy. Ask how many steps and buggy transfers lie between the room, breakfast and beach; the hillside layout matters more than the room category name.

Note the exact room or suite name before opening the booking provider, along with any connecting-room, step-free access or celebration requests.

At the table

Dining & the evening ahead

Five principal venues include beachfront seafood at Fresh, Cantonese and Hainanese dishes at Yi Yang, Pavilion by the pool, Mee & Mian for noodles and Sunset Bar. The self-contained setting makes on-property prices relevant, so check current menus before committing to every meal here.

Request restaurant availability alongside your stay. Tasting menus, private dining and dietary arrangements should be confirmed separately.

Time for yourself

Spa, pool & wellbeing

A 3,200-square-metre spa village with 18 treatment suites, including two private spa villas, plus yoga and tai chi. This is one of the property's clearest advantages over the much larger family resorts farther east.

Ask which facilities are included with your room, whether treatments require advance reservations, and whether any seasonal closures affect your stay.

Before you decide

This is a mature resort and parts of the room product show their age beside newer Haitang Bay hotels. Coral Bay is scenic but rocky: the reef and tides make it better for snorkelling than carefree all-day swimming, and moving around the steep grounds often means waiting for a buggy. Restaurants and activities are priced for a captive resort audience.

Location. Coral Bay, 12 Yuhai Road, Jiyang District; about 10 minutes from central Sanya and roughly 40–50 minutes from Phoenix airport in ordinary traffic.

Prices are indicative, not live availability. Confirm the total including taxes, meals, transfers and cancellation terms on the provider’s checkout before committing.
