Shangri-La Xi'an
西安香格里拉大酒店
Shangri-La's Chinese-language and mainland-business service culture is the real product here: this is the hotel where a complicated request gets handled without a conversation about why it cannot be done.

Why stay here
393 rooms over 20 floors at 38B Keji Road, in the Gaoxin high-tech development zone west of the old city. It opened in 2007. Three restaurants cover Cantonese, Thai and European, and there is a six-treatment-room spa, sauna, steam room and a 25-metre indoor heated pool.
The most reliable full-service operation in Xi'an. Andrew Harper's reviewer, who found the hotel short on atmosphere, still rated the service excellent throughout — which in this city is the thing in shortest supply. The pool and health club are the best among Xi'an's five-stars.

Rooms worth asking for
A Horizon Club room. The lounge is the hotel's strongest space and the room premium is modest.
Note the exact room or suite name before opening the booking provider, along with any connecting-room, step-free access or celebration requests.
Dining & the evening ahead
Three restaurants: Cantonese, Thai and European. No Michelin or Black Pearl listing confirmed.
Request restaurant availability alongside your stay. Tasting menus, private dining and dietary arrangements should be confirmed separately.
Spa, pool & wellbeing
Six treatment rooms with a full health club and a 25-metre indoor heated pool — the most complete wellness facility in the city.
Ask which facilities are included with your room, whether treatments require advance reservations, and whether any seasonal closures affect your stay.

Andrew Harper's own review says the hotel lacks atmosphere, and that is fair: it is a well-run 2007 business hotel in a high-tech zone with nothing around it and no connection to Xi'an at all. I found no evidence of any renovation since opening, which for a 2007 building is the central question. Everything historic is a 20-30 minute drive away.
Location. Gaoxin high-tech development zone, Keji Road — the business and shopping district, outside the city wall to the west.
