329 rooms plus 32 one- and two-bedroom apartments on a site of nearly 60 acres directly opposite the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, in Qujiang. The architecture is by Neri & Hu, and the complex includes the Xi'an Qujiang Museum of Fine Arts and a shopping centre. It opened in December 2011 on the grounds of a Tang imperial summer garden.
Position. This is the only luxury hotel in Xi'an with the Big Wild Goose Pagoda across the road, which means you can be at the pagoda before the tour coaches and back for breakfast. The Neri & Hu design is the most serious piece of architecture among the city's hotels.

Westin is an upper-upscale brand, not a luxury one, and the service model here reflects that — this is a four-and-a-half-star hotel in the best location in Xi'an rather than a five-star hotel. The building is from 2011 and most of the detail available online still comes from pre-opening press material, so the current standard of the rooms and the museum's opening hours both need checking. The pagoda square outside is loud, with a musical fountain show that runs on a schedule.
