W Xi’an hotel beside the water

The character of the place

Why stay here

A 26-floor tower in Qujiang on Qujiang Chi East Road, beside Qujiangchi Site Park and attached to a shopping centre. Opening material gave 385 rooms and suites, each with its own balcony; booking listings say 372 across 26 floors. Standard city-view kings run about 40 square metres, lake-view suites about 100.

Every room has a balcony, which almost no Chinese city hotel offers, and the Qujiang lake park outside is the one part of modern Xi'an built at a human scale. It was the largest W to open in Asia Pacific and functions as the city's late-night venue as much as a hotel.

Rooms worth asking for

A lake-view category on a high floor. City-view rooms look at Qujiang's apartment towers, which is not what you came for.

Note the exact room or suite name before opening the booking provider, along with any connecting-room, step-free access or celebration requests.

At the table

Dining & the evening ahead

Multiple outlets plus the W bar programme. No Michelin or Black Pearl listing confirmed.

Request restaurant availability alongside your stay. Tasting menus, private dining and dietary arrangements should be confirmed separately.

Before you decide

Qujiang is a 2010s development district south-east of the old city — the Terracotta Army, the city wall and the Muslim Quarter are all a drive away, and there is no old Xi'an within walking distance. The published room count is inconsistent between the brand's own announcement and the booking platforms, so I have left it out. W's noise-forward programming means lobby and pool music until late, which several brands' guests enjoy and others do not. Guest scores of 9.2-9.4 come entirely from booking aggregators with small samples.

Location. Qujiang New District, by Qujiangchi Site Park; about 20 minutes to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and 30-40 to the city wall and Muslim Quarter.
