Why stay here
Built around a preserved Qing-dynasty courtyard mansion and a restored stone-walled temple frontage at No. 81 Bitieshi Street, with a glass guest tower rising behind it. About 100 rooms and studios plus 42 serviced apartments, the studios running 60, 70 and 90 square metres. It opened in 2015 as The Temple House and sits inside the Taikoo Li retail and heritage block rather than beside it.
It is the only hotel in Chengdu where the building itself is the reason to stay: the heritage courtyard is real, not a facade bolted onto a tower, and Mi Xun Teahouse and Mi Xun Spa both occupy it. Rooms are among the largest entry-level accommodation in any Chinese luxury hotel, and the Taikoo Li location puts Daci Temple and the Chunxi Road district on foot.

Rooms worth asking for
Deluxe Courtyard Suite or Temple Suite — the only categories that look onto the heritage courtyard and Daci Temple rather than the surrounding mall roofline.

Mi Xun Spa occupies the heritage courtyard building, which is the rare case of a hotel spa in a space worth sitting in regardless of the treatment.

As of 15 October 2025 this is no longer The Temple House: Swire folded the House Collective into a single Upper House brand, so booking confirmations, loyalty records and older reviews all use the previous name. Reviewers consistently rate the public spaces above the guest rooms, which read as generic contemporary luxury next to the courtyard, and the building is now a decade old. Being inside a working shopping mall means weekend crowds press right up against the entrance.
