Why stay here
199 rooms and suites plus 11 freestanding villas with private courtyards, on a private island of about nine hectares in Jinji Lake, in Suzhou Industrial Park east of the old city. The layout is low-rise and spread out, with lake-facing rooms on one side and garden-facing rooms on the other, plus outdoor pools and a lakeside running track.
It is the strongest luxury hotel in Suzhou on execution and the only one with an island to itself. If you want the service level you get in Shanghai or Hangzhou without leaving Suzhou, this is the nearest thing, and the villas with private courtyards are the only accommodation in the city that approaches resort standard.

Rooms worth asking for
One of the 11 villas with a private courtyard, or failing that a lake-facing suite. Note that one reviewer in a suite found the outlook unremarkable, so ask which way your room faces before you accept it.
Note the exact room or suite name before opening the booking provider, along with any connecting-room, step-free access or celebration requests.
Dining & the evening ahead
Jin Jing Ge for Jiangnan cooking, The Lounge and Bar, and Yun He for the buffet. Nothing starred.
Request restaurant availability alongside your stay. Tasting menus, private dining and dietary arrangements should be confirmed separately.
Spa, pool & wellbeing
A spa and outdoor pools on the island. Good, not a destination in itself.
Ask which facilities are included with your room, whether treatments require advance reservations, and whether any seasonal closures affect your stay.

It is in Suzhou Industrial Park, the modern business and tech district, not the old city, so every garden, canal and dinner is a 20-25 minute drive. Published room counts are inconsistent across sources, from 199 plus 11 villas to 254, and the Four Seasons' own press material uses the 199-plus-11 figure. It holds no Michelin Keys, which no Suzhou hotel except one does. Jinji Lake is a man-made lake in a planned district built in the 1990s; it is pleasant and it is not Suzhou. Independent critical coverage is thin and most of what exists is hosted or press-derived.
Location. A private island in Jinji Lake, Suzhou Industrial Park. About 20-25 minutes by car to the old city, Pingjiang Road and the classical gardens.
