Why stay here
190 rooms including 57 suites of around 86 square metres, in a KPF-designed building inside the China Central Place complex in Gusu district, the old city. The exterior uses blue-glazed tiled roofs and screens based on folding fans, and the interiors borrow from Suzhou garden composition rather than the brand's usual gilt. It opened in March 2025.
The only international luxury hotel actually in Suzhou's old city rather than in the industrial park or on a lake. The Lingering Garden, Xiyuan Temple and Shantang Street are all within about 2 km, and the Tadao Ando-designed H+ Art Museum is in the same complex. The suite proportion, 57 of 190 rooms, is unusually high for China.

Rooms worth asking for
One of the 57 suites. At about 86 square metres they are a real step up and the price gap is smaller than at the Four Seasons.

It opened in March 2025 and the surroundings are not finished: guests describe the complex's amenities as still under development, and a new mall-and-museum development is a building site in parts. The independent review base is tiny, around a dozen TripAdvisor reviews averaging roughly 4.3 to 4.4 out of 5, which is lower than the Chinese-platform score of 9.3 and worth noting. It holds no Michelin Keys. 'In the old city' means in a new mixed-use development in the old city, not in a lane, so you get the location without the atmosphere.
