Why stay here
379 rooms in a tower on Jinji Lake in Suzhou Industrial Park, open since 2017 and connected directly to the Suzhou Center mall. Rooms are large, modern and loud in the W manner, with floor-to-ceiling lake views and a 36th-floor pool.
The best views in Suzhou and the best pool, with a mall of restaurants and shops attached by a covered walkway. If you have teenagers, or you want a city hotel with energy rather than Jiangnan restraint, it is the only property in Suzhou that does it.

Rooms worth asking for
A lake-view room or suite on a high floor. Ask for one away from the bar levels.
Note the exact room or suite name before opening the booking provider, along with any connecting-room, step-free access or celebration requests.
Dining & the evening ahead
W's usual set of restaurants and bars, plus the entire Suzhou Center mall through a connecting walkway. Nothing starred; the mall is the real dining answer.
Request restaurant availability alongside your stay. Tasting menus, private dining and dietary arrangements should be confirmed separately.
Spa, pool & wellbeing
An Away Spa and the 36th-floor pool. The pool is the draw.
Ask which facilities are included with your room, whether treatments require advance reservations, and whether any seasonal closures affect your stay.

It opened in 2017 and the W design language of that period has not aged well; the much-photographed circular 'Moon' wall light in the rooms throws a harsh lime-green glow that reviewers switch off. At 379 rooms it is the biggest hotel on this list and runs heavy group and event business, and W hotels are noisy by design. No Michelin Keys. The location is the industrial park, so you are in a planned district 20-25 minutes from everything you came to Suzhou to see, and the lake is man-made. It is good value and it is not luxury in the sense the rest of this list means.
Location. Jinji Lake, Suzhou Industrial Park, attached to Suzhou Center mall. About 20-25 minutes by car to the old city.
