A taste of Xiamen

Guo Gong Restaurant

国供饭店

A no-frills local restaurant open since 1994 in Xiang'an district, part of many locals' food memories. The wall menu is only a guide; pick from the glass-fronted fridge. Feng rou, the braised trotter, is the signature (a Tong'an-style dish).

Why come here

A place worth making time for

Michelin Bib Gourmand 2026 (new this year).

The house favourites

What to order

Point at the Chinese. Staff will understand it even where the menu has no English at all.

  • Braised skin-on pork trotter with chestnuts, mushrooms and dried shrimp (封肉)
  • Sauteed frog (爆炒田鸡)

What it actually tastes like

Skin-on trotter is very gelatinous and rich. Frog may surprise. Dried shrimp is cooked in the sauce.

Allergens in this kitchen

shellfishsoy

This is the kitchen, not one dish. Woks, fryers, blanching water and utensils are shared in almost every Chinese restaurant, so for a serious allergy treat the whole premises as the unit rather than ordering around it.
