A taste of Zhangjiajie

Auntie Qin's, since 1999 (Nanzhuangping branch)

秦大妈老字号·始于1999(南庄坪店)

A Zhangjiajie city restaurant that has been trading since 1999 and markets itself as a local old name. Home-style Hunan cooking at a mid-range price, in a residential part of town rather than the tourist strip, which is exactly why the portions and prices are normal.

What to order

Point at the Chinese. Staff will understand it even where the menu has no English at all.

  • Mum's stir-fried pork (妈妈炒肉)
  • Three-in-one pot (三下锅)
  • Cured pork with smoked tofu (腊肉炒豆腐)

What it actually tastes like

Standard Hunan heat and salt. Some pork dishes are mostly fat, by design.

Allergens in this kitchen

soygluten/wheat

This is the kitchen, not one dish. Woks, fryers, blanching water and utensils are shared in almost every Chinese restaurant, so for a serious allergy treat the whole premises as the unit rather than ordering around it.
