A taste of Xiamen

Yanyu (Jiahe Road)

宴遇(嘉禾路店)

A flagship Fujian restaurant that has been busy for over ten years, in a stylish modern room. It is known for top-grade dried seafood in Buddha Jumps Over the Wall and for Minnan prawn noodles in a rich orange tomalley broth. Only the Jiahe Road branch carries the star.

Why come here

A place worth making time for

Michelin one star, MICHELIN Guide Fujian 2026 (retained); Jiahe Road branch only.

What to order

Point at the Chinese. Staff will understand it even where the menu has no English at all.

  • Buddha Jumps Over the Wall (佛跳墙)
  • Minnan prawn noodles in tomalley soup (闽南虾面)
  • Black sesame glutinous cake made to order (黑麻糬)

What it actually tastes like

Rich, briny seafood stocks and shrimp-head tomalley. Fujian restaurants may use peanut or sacha in other dishes; ask. Do not confuse with other Yanyu branches, which are not starred.

Allergens in this kitchen

shellfishsesamegluten/wheatsoy

This is the kitchen, not one dish. Woks, fryers, blanching water and utensils are shared in almost every Chinese restaurant, so for a serious allergy treat the whole premises as the unit rather than ordering around it.
